1. Introduction

LessonSaver.AI ("LessonSaver," "we," "us," or "our") operates a web-based platform that helps educators create, organize, and publish lesson plans and educational content to Learning Management Systems (LMS) including Google Classroom and Canvas. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services (the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information necessary to provide and improve our Service:

Account Information: Your name and email address when you register. We also store profile details you provide such as school name, subjects taught, and grade levels.

Uploaded Content: Files you upload (such as PDF lesson materials, images, and audio) and the lessons, quizzes, slides, games, and worksheets you create using our tools.

Student Interaction Data: When students interact with lessons, quizzes, quick checks, or games you share, we collect anonymous interaction data (such as quiz answers, game scores, quick-check responses, and lesson ratings) so you can view analytics. We do not require students to create accounts or submit personally identifiable information to interact with these tools.

Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the Service, including device type, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps, used to maintain and improve the Service.

OAuth Data: When you connect a third-party service such as Google Classroom, we receive the authorization token and the data you authorize that service to share with us, as described in Section 3.

3. Google Classroom API & OAuth Data

LessonSaver integrates with Google Classroom via the Google Classroom API. When you connect your Google account, you grant us access to specific scopes through Google's OAuth 2.0 authorization. You initiate and authorize this connection; we never access your Google account without your explicit consent.

Depending on the features you use, we may request access to the following Google Classroom data:

Course Information: List of your Google Classroom courses (names and IDs) so you can select where to publish lessons.

Coursework & Materials: The ability to create assignments, materials, and announcements in your selected courses.

Rosters: Read-only access to your class rosters (student names and email addresses) so we can match game and quiz scores to students when you push grades to Google Classroom.

Student Submissions: Read and update access to student submissions for assignments you create through LessonSaver, so we can record grades.

Profile Email: Your Google account email to identify your account.

We use this data solely to perform the actions you request (publishing lessons, posting announcements, syncing grades). We do not sell, rent, or share Google Classroom data with third parties. We do not use Google Classroom data for advertising purposes. We comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use Requirements.

You may disconnect your Google account at any time from your account Settings, which revokes our access to your Google Classroom data. Disconnecting does not delete lessons already published to Google Classroom.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, operate, and maintain the Service;

Create, publish, and manage your lessons, quizzes, and assignments across LMS platforms;

Generate AI-assisted content based on materials you upload;

Aggregate and display analytics from student interactions with your shared content;

Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests;

Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse;

Comply with our legal obligations.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers: Third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only to provide the Service to us. These include:

Cloud hosting & infrastructure: The platform hosting provider that stores your account data and uploaded files.

AI model providers: Large language model (LLM), text-to-speech, and image-generation services that process the content you upload or prompt in order to generate lessons, scripts, audio, slides, and images. Uploaded and generated content is transmitted to these providers as necessary to produce your requested output.

Email delivery: Gmail API, used to send you invitations, verification codes, and service notifications.

Payments: Stripe, our payment processor, which handles billing, subscriptions, and card data. Stripe receives your payment information directly and we do not store full card numbers.

Authentication: Google OAuth for sign-in and the Google Classroom integration.

Support & analytics: Tools we use to understand Service usage, diagnose issues, and respond to support requests.

LMS Platforms: When you choose to publish content to Google Classroom, Canvas, or another connected LMS, we transmit that content to the platform you selected.

Community Library: Lessons you choose to publish to the public Community Library are visible to other users. You control what is shared.

Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of LessonSaver, our users, or others.

Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred subject to the protections of this Privacy Policy.

5a. How Uploaded & Generated Content Is Processed

When you upload a document (such as a PDF) or enter text and prompt the Service to generate content, that material is sent to our AI model providers as described above. The providers may temporarily process your content to return the generated result (lesson text, podcast scripts, audio, slides, images, quiz questions, etc.). We minimize the data sent to AI providers to what is necessary to fulfill your request. You should avoid uploading content that contains sensitive student personally identifiable information unless you have the authority and necessity to do so.

AI-generated outputs are stored in your account until you delete them. They are not used to train the AI providers' general models beyond what is necessary to fulfill your single request; we do not grant the providers a license to use your content for their own product improvement.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Upon request, we will delete your account data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or to resolve disputes.

Uploaded files and generated content remain yours. You may delete individual lessons, quizzes, and files from within the Service at any time.

7. Student & Children's Privacy (FERPA & COPPA)

LessonSaver is designed for use by educators. Students do not create accounts. Student-facing features (games, quizzes, worksheets, quick checks, bonus challenges, lesson viewers, and rating widgets) use anonymous identifiers (a random client ID stored in the student's browser) or teacher-controlled session codes wherever possible, so that personal information is not required to participate.

Some optional flows — such as email-based bonus challenges or score reporting — may ask for a student name or email when the teacher chooses to use them. Teachers control whether and when these fields are collected and are responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions before entering student data, including under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for students under 13 and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 outside of the educator-directed context above. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information without parental consent, please contact us and we will delete it. We act as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest when handling student data on behalf of educators who direct and control that data, and we do not use student data for commercial purposes or targeted advertising beyond providing the Service to the teacher.

We design for data minimization: where an anonymous nickname or a teacher-controlled room code can accomplish a feature, we do not require a student email, ID, or other identifier.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and administrative safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and secure cloud storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you;

Request correction of inaccurate information;

Request deletion of your personal information;

Withdraw consent to data processing at any time;

Disconnect third-party integrations such as Google Classroom.

10. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and authenticate your account. We may use analytics tools to understand Service usage and improve features. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.

11. International Users

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
